My return to the blog and a new restart...

 Hi all,

I know I have not been on my blog in a long time but the past several months has seen me focus on a lot of other stuff that was more important to me and mentally I was unable to focus on it. I just think that last year was not my year and I did consider giving up on this blog of mine here. However, the new year has arrived and so has a new me. I decided I wanted to have a new beginning with my blog because I love reviewing books that you can enjoy to read yourselves.

That is not all I will be posting on my blog as I hope to share other things with you that are related such as things I consider can relate to various types of books or perhaps something I have written myself, as I do write. The reviewing of books is probably what will interest me most though and I hope to have a theme of the month, for each month. I have decided this will change every two months because one month just is not long enough. For January and February, I am going to be reviewing texts that are within the dystopian genre so I will be digging deep into my book collection to find some cool dystopian gems.

Another thing I decided on was to have an author of the month to accompany the theme of the month. This would change each month so I would have two different authors somehow relating to the theme of the month. For January I have chosen Margaret Atwood as author of the month. This to me was an obvious choice because I fell in love with her work right back in college when I read The Handmaid's Tale (1985) as part of our studies. Ever since then I have become fascinated with her Atwood and the way she conjures up these worlds of hers.

The other reason for picking Atwood was because in my opinion she is THE dystopian author, what with her 1985 classic The Handmaid's Tale (which was made a T.V series) with The Testaments as the follow up in 2019. We cannot forget she gave us the Maddaddam trilogy, consisting of Oryx & Crake (2003), The Year of the Flood (2009) and Maddaddam (2013).

Her work sits so nicely in the realms of speculative fiction, science fiction and dystopian literature. But Atwood did also write other novels, a novella, some short story collections, poetry and non-fiction. What I do not want to do is avoid all of these because they do not all fit within the dystopian genre. Therefore, the book reviews will be of dystopian texts and of Margaret Atwood's texts.

I will post to my blog every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I was originally planning to restart my blog last Monday although, finding out one of my favourite drag queens, winner of Rupaul's Drag Race UK series 1, The Vivienne, had passed away and I was upset as a fan of hers. This threw me off balance last week I guess.

Anyway, I look forward to reading more Atwood and dystopian, sharing my opinions of book-related things with you all. If you have come back from before then a very special thank you for coming back. If you are new, then welcome and thank you for stopping by. I hope you enjoy my reviews and can find something to read people.

(P.S: January the 2nd is also National Science Fiction Day to commemorate sci-fi author Isaac Asimov!)

Thomas.
