Bookshops I have visited - 1: The Bookkeeper.

Hi everyone, I decided that starting from this month, I am going to introduce you to a bookshop each month that I have visited and let you know on what I think. Therefore, if you want a good bookshop you hopefully can find one new to visit. The post will not fall on a set day of the month as I will try to publish a post on a bookshop shortly after I visit one, where possible.

The first bookshop I want to highlight is The Bookkeeper in the East Sussex town of St Leonards-on-Sea down Kings Road. The reason I picked this bookshop because it is a nice bookshop and in fact I recently visited it. Here are the couple of books I purchased there on my recent visit.

The bookshop is smaller in size but that should not deter people. I find sometimes a smaller bookshop can be a good thing. If it's small then it can make the shop feel more cosy. The Bookkeeper comes across as neat, petite and sweet. The person who runs it is certainly sweet and always helpful, though I do not know their name! Whenever I am in there and I want something specific, they are always so precise with what they have and what they don't. Sometimes people in a bookshop can seem to point you in the right direction and that's it, to me anyway. But no, the person who runs The Bookkeeper is thorough and that is what I like.

I must say however, there is one downside, only one. The bookshop is only open Thursdays to Saturdays, 10:00 - 17:00. This is unless they have a change in their opening hours such as at around Christmas time but you can always find them on Facebook to check before hand if you go. Conveniently, there are only a few minutes away from St Leonards Warrior Square train station, one stop out from the towns of Hastings and Bexhill-on-Sea. Trains connect to London Charing Cross, London Bridge, Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells, London Victoria, Gatwick Airport, Haywards Heath, Brighton, Lewes, Eastbourne and Ashford International to name a few. There are also local buses you can use if you are local.

On the whole you have a good bookshop here with some good finds to be found. Not too expensive either so I am sure you will strike it lucky with this one. Find out next month which bookshop gem I offer you.

Until next time,

Thomas.
