Week 9 [10/03/2025 - 16/03/2025]: What I have read this week (just gone)...

What I have read this week (just gone)…

Before I get into the ins and outs of my week in terms of what I have read, I must apologise. Yesterday I had a lot on and then to top it all off, I received some bad news. For these reasons I forgot to post my weekly 'What I have read this week...' post yesterday. Anyway, I am here now (Monday 17th March), to post it a day late. I thought it is better to post it late than not at all.

1: French!

You knew it was coming... Just another week of me reading, listening to, speaking and typing French. I am getting close to 450 days, give it until next month! I have also decided that when I confident enough with my French, I am going to start learning Spanish. I have always wanted to and one of my good Judy's speaks Spanish very well. Another good Judy or rather friend (if you're unaware of the 'Judy' meaning), hopes I learn French well. They happen to speak some French though I'm unsure how much...

2: The Autograph Man (2002) by Zadie Smith.

This novel has gripped me so much this week that as I drew nearer to the end I just wanted to keep going... I could not put it down!

3: Palestine leaflets.

I have been trying to give these leaflets to people I know in the hope they might become more thoughtful. But not everyone I know understands the reasons behind it or the need to boycott. Sometimes I do not know what to say to people.

4: Instagram. (Again)

This week I have read a lot. I like to be informed. I like to have a minute scrap of hope. I want to know all the facts. I want to see people doing good. It makes me happier seeing good people fighting for what's right. The funny thing is, I sometimes see the same stuff being repeated. The one thing that gets repeated the most is "Tax the Rich". [As a way of saving a lot more money than cutting benefits.] I wonder why that is...

5: A Leon menu.

For those of you who are unaware on what Leon is, they are a takeaway place like KFC or Subway. But they are healthier than a lot of other fast food chains. Because we have none anywhere near us, when I'm on a long trip and I see one I always order the fries. However, these are not just any regular fries. These are waffle shaped, BAKED fries. This makes them healthier! Plus they have no salt on them and are filling!

Anyway, I was reading through the menu and trying to highlight to certain other people the benefits they have over certain other places to eat. This was because they were unfamiliar with Leon. I love Leon!

6: Text messages.

Many, multiple text messages. Just because.

That concludes my collection of things I read in the week just gone. Don't forget to return at the end of this week to see what treasures I have sunk my teeth into.

(P.S: I shall till post a normal post today as it is Monday. Keep a look out!)

Until then...

Thomas.
