What I read last month in October...
1: Zom-B (2012) by Darren Shan.
Last month, when the theme of the month was horror, I picked Darren Shan as author of the month. When I was a teenager my hands somehow grabbed hold of my book, not sure how exactly but I read it. I decided to read again last month to remind myself what gory details happened. Also I wanted to be able to follow when I read more of the novels in the series, which I did. Read my review if you want to know what I really thought of it.
2: Hotel websites.
I am going away and am needing to book somewhere to stay when I travel. Though this is not the easiest thing to do when other things get in the way of life and prices are trying to be a tall as the Shard in London. (Very high for those who are not aware.)
3: Zom-B: Underground (2013) by Darren Shan.
After having read Darren Shan's Zom-B (2012), I read the follow up, Zom-B: Underground (2013) which I then reviewed on my blog. Yes, I had also read this one when I was younger though I forgot what had happened. I am glad I re-read it as I understood better than I probably did back then. Another thing is how I appreciated the horror genre more.
4: Facebook and Instagram.
Without using Facebook and Instagram, I would not feel I was in the loop. Some people and groups are great to follow. Issy Vine is someone I recently followed, who exposes baddies in the metropolitan police, which there obviously are some. Furthermore, Carol Vorderman is a saint who I follow. I find her entertaining, helpful and a saviour to society. Without people like Issy and Carol the world would crumble at lot quicker than it is because it is. Famine is rarely declared yet it has been declared twice this year. We have war. People are being scapegoated to try and deter the focus of society's problems away from those who cause them. I mean, in the United Kingdom here, we are still dealing with the after effects of Brexit which has been awful. Still, one can hope for a better society while trying to do some good out there.
5: "Goblin Market" (1862) by Christina Rossetti.
I re-read parts of this gothic poem which I had previously read as I wanted to review this poem. I enjoyed it when I first read it and wanted to find a section relating to the fruit in the poem. My blog post in which I reviewed the poem explains my point on the fruit.
6: As always... my French.
Every month I complete listening, speaking, typing and reading tasks in French using an app through my phone. I have been going for over 600 days and now practice chess, which is a course you can do. I can play chess but I could win a serious chess tournament. Yet anyway!
7: Zom-B: City (2013) by Darren Shan.
Now I read the first two novels in the Zom-B series by Darren Shan so it only made sense to read that one next for review. Again, you can read my thoughts on it in my review alongside the first two. in total there are twelve novels and one novella in the entire series, though I became aware that it was not possible to read and review all thirteen books for one month. I was not going to continue with Darren Shan as author of the month for this month. I pick a new theme of the month every two months which means there is a new one coming for November and December. You will have to wait and see what this month and next month shall bring...
