What I have read this month...

Finally the end of June is coming. That means it is time to disclose on some of the things I have been diving into. I thought I had posted this on Friday but it obviously did not post so have it now! I will post again later for the first post of June.

1: My French...

The continual French learning never ever ever stops! Reading, typing, listening and speaking tasks all help to improve my understanding of the language. I do not even spend a lot of time doing it; five or ten minutes per day is what I like to accomplish.

2: The Adoption Papers (1991) by Jackie Kay.

As Jackie Kay was author of the month for May, I read her poetry collection The Adoption Papers (1991). You can check out my review on the blog post to see what my thoughts were on the collection. Searching for tags such as 'BIPOC' or '1990s' can help you find the post easier.

3: Bus websites and timetables.

There are some bus routes which I use (when I need to) that have been given updated timetables, with some routes receiving major changes. When I realised I wanted to have a look at them because some of these changes are completely different to what the current services look like. You can imagine planning to get a bus and instead of it being every 20 minutes, the bus is now every 30 minutes when you are unaware!

4: Sleep: Harness the power of sleep for optimal health and wellbeing (2018) by Petra Hawker.

While I was in a library once, waiting to borrow some books out, I discovered this book and it intrigued me. I decided to borrow it out and have a nosy through it. So far, I have not been disappointed...

5: CD tracklists.

There is no denying how much of a CD lover I am. So when I come across CDs that I might be interested in and do not own, I am going to read the track list. I want to know what the album has and how many. If I come across a single CD then I do like to have a look to see if there are any B-side tracks. I am thinking of the different songs that are not just remixes or live versions of songs that do exist in an alternative form. However, I do love remixes and live versions of songs though, do not underrate them!

6: My chess.

Chess, chess and chess learning as the days go by. I like to be careful reading the instructions, especially when I learn a new thing such as a 'battery' in chess. If you are a true chess fan, you might know what I mean.

7: Reality, Reality (2011) by Jackie Kay.

Another book that I reviewed during the month was Jackie Kay's short story collection Reality, Reality (2011). When I found this in a shop I thought it was perfect for reading and reviewing. You can read the review to find out what my opinions were on the collection.

8: My brain training.

I have been continuing to exercise my mind with my continual brain training. The only thing is that in one of the games where you are coming up with words, pangender and panromantic are not being acknowledged as words. I know I cannot expect every word possible to be accepted and known but it does get a little annoying when you waste time typing out the words to not get the points for them.

9: Social media.

If there were other ways to keep informed on the rights and wrongs in society I possibly would avoid social media a lot more than I currently do. I am not addicted to it, always reaching for a social media app every few minutes though I do use it enough to keep updated on things I want to be updated on. One thing is being updated on new episodes for a podcast I like to watch called 'The Woke Hotline'. I recommend this podcast for various reasons. It is funny, informative and entertaining. Regardless of your views on anything in life, you could at least try one episode because I doubt you will be disappointed.

That is a little offering to some stuff I have been reading throughout the month of May. You can look out for the post at the end of June to discover what I have been throughout the month.

Until next time,

Thomas (they/them).
